US Open tennis – Men’s final Federer vs Del Potro betting

Posted: 2009-09-14 by Harry Maude

Roger Federer and Juan Martin Del Potro will contest the US Open men’s final tonight after both winning their semi finals last night. Del Potro thrashed Rafael Nadal 6-2, 6-2, 6-2, in a match he dominated from the start. Federer also won his clash against Novak Djokovic in straight sets, beating the Serb 7-6 (7-3), 7-5, 7-5.

Federer is bidding for his sixth straight US Open title and is 2/7 (bet $70 to make $20 profit) to win the match. Del Potro is priced at 3/1.

Federer is 7/4 to win in straight sets and 5/2 and 7/1 to win in four and five sets respectively. Del Potro is 16/1 to win 3-0, 9/1 to win 3-1 and 10-1 to win 3-2.

Federer has a 6-0 head to head record against Del Potro, including three wins so far this year. Federer beat him in straight sets in the quarter final of the Australian Open as well as narrowly beating him in five sets in the semi-final of Roland Garros. Federer was taken right to the wire in that game and Del Potro has improved since then, as shown by his obliteration of Nadal last night. This is Del Potro’s first grand slam final but he showed no nerves in last night’s semi, and will likely go on the attack again tonight.

Federer is looking to extend his own record of 16 grand slams whilst Del Potro is searching for his first.
