LONDON, UK – Roger Federer will face the Frenchman Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final of the ATP World Tour event at London’s O2 Arena on Sunday evening. The five time champion, Federer, will attempt to finish his disappointing season on a high in the 100th final of his remarkable career.
Roger Federer is priced at a very short 2/7 with William Hill to win a record breaking sixth crown at the Tour’s season finale. The giant killer, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, can be backed at 3/1 with Sportingbet and he is one of the most unpredictable characters in Men’s tennis.
The bookies believe the final will have an inevitable result but Federer needs to be wary of the attacking French star, who beat the Swiss on his favoured surface at Wimbledon earlier this year. The pair met earlier this week and Federer prevailed in a three-set thriller and he will look to pick up his third consecutive victory over Tsonga in the last month.
Tsonga has shown great form since the US Open, winning two indoor titles like his opponent today and his serve has shone at the O2 as he leads the rankings with 31 aces so far and is 4/11 with Skybet to head this stat in the final. The Frenchman overcame the seventh seed Tomas Berdych to secure his place in the final and have a chance of securing his first end-of-season title.
Federer looks to have regained his passion for the game and comes into this match on the back of an 16-match unbeaten run and can become the oldest man to win the Tour finale this evening.
Federer beat Tsonga in the BNP Parisbas Masters Final in Paris two weeks ago in straight sets and the Swiss star is 8/11 with Skybet in the Set Betting to repeat that score line this afternoon. Federer can be backed at standout 10/3 with Sportingbet to win the match in three sets. A 2-0 win for Tsonga in sets is quoted at 6/1 with Paddy Power and the same firm offer 13/2 on the Frenchman winning in by two sets to one.
Federer is the 2/5 favourite to win the opening set, which would put him in a commanding position but it should not be forgotten that Tsonga fought back from two sets down to overcome his rival in their meeting at Wimbledon this year.
The Total Games Over/Under line has been set at 21.5 games by most bookmakers, and it is generally 4/5 for over and an even money shot under this margin.
This match starts at 17.30 GMT and will be broadcast live on Sky Sports 2.
