Djokovic 8/1 bet to complete Grand Slam

Skybet have priced up Novak Djokovic at 8/1 in their tennis betting specials to win all four majors and complete the Grand Slam after his Australian Open triumph over Rafael Nadal.

Djokovic prevailed from the longest Grand Slam final of all time to retain the title, his fifth Slam to date, to reinforce his position as the greatest player in men's tennis.

The online bookmaker has the Serb as favourite to retain his titles at Wimbledon (15/8) and the US Open (7/4), while he is 15/8 to wrest the only trophy to elude him so far, the French Open, from six-time winner Nadal.

Djokovic was watched by the only man ever to complete the Grand Slam, Rod Laver, in the stadium named after the legend who won all four Slams twice, once before the induction of the Open Era, in 1962, and then again in 1969.

Skybet's tennis trader Ned Brooker said: "After that remarkable display it is difficult to dismiss the prospect of Djokovic becoming the second man to complete the Grand Slam, having shrugged off concerns over his condition to win a match that last almost six hours.

"However, with the Olympics added to an already hectic schedule, we still have to offer a lengthy price with fitness such a key issue, while Nadal will not let his French Open crown go without a fight."
