Australian Open epic sees turnover records smashed - 25/1 Grand Slam final lasts longer this year

THE THRILLING final of the Australian Open has smashed all records for in-play betting turnover according to Ladbrokes.

The match was responsible for in-play turnover on a multi-million pound scale across the industry. Up to five times more bets were placed with Ladbrokes during the match than last year as punters were gripped by the action every time favouritism changed as the match went to the wire.

Djokovic is now just 10/1 to complete the Grand Slam clean sweep this year and it's 25/1 that another men's Slam final breaks the new record set for total match time.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "Punters couldn't tear themselves away from the action. In-play figures were sky-high and despite Djokovic being by far the worst result it's encouraging for the future."
