Ladbrokes: Murray saves bookies millions

ANDY MURRAY'S failure to beat Rafa Nadal has left the betting industry breathing a huge sigh of relief.

Murray was the subject of a full-scale patriotic gamble in the run up to his match against Nadal leaving bookies nationwide trembling at the thought of him winning his first Wimbledon.

It's 11/10 he's crowned at SW19 in his lifetime (4/6 he never wins Wimbledon) and 1/3 he manages to win a Grand Slam (9/4 no Grand Slam).

Murray is 8/1 to win Wimbledon next year.

Alex Donohue of Ladbrokes said: "Murray's army of supporters could have left us bruised. Thankfully he faded away and it's now touch and go whether he'll manage it in his career."

he added: "The Djokovic-Nadal double was well backed today but we'll take it. We're firmly in the Serbian's corner for the final."
