The Swiss Indoors Championship has started and Roger Federer has returned from a self-imposed rest period just in time to play in his hometown event in Basel. Federer missed touring East Asia due to fatigue but will play this week and again in the Paris Masters as he warms up for the World Tour Finals where he will hope to regain the crown he lost last year.

The ATP Valencia Open is under way, with Andy Murray playing his first tournament since the US Open in September. Murray did not play in Shanghai or Japan, and will be using this tournament to get back in his groove for the World Tour finals at the end of the month.
